Never, ever say Vegas doesn’t have culture. Matter of fact, I think we have a ton of it! And you can actually find a unique outlook on Westernized society at the incredible exhibition, BANKSY: GENIUS OR VANDAL at the Fashion Show on the Las Vegas Strip.
This blog was written in collaboration with the Fashion Show in Las Vegas. All opinions expressed are of my own.
And, yes, I am talking about that Banksy: the international, anonymous, renowned street artist with the heart of a political activist with a touch of dark humor. While Banksy’s identity to this day is often speculated, his unique stenciling graffiti-style speaks loudly, questioning modern society’s morals, lifestyle, and politics. Be it war, consumerism, or our day-to-day lives, ultimately, Banksy doesn’t shy away from any topic, causing the observer of his art to question ourselves.
Inside the Exhibit
With that all said, the BANKSY: GENIUS OR VANDAL exhibition is certainly an incredible experience. At 12,000 square feet, it includes “one of a kind” artworks, 3D objects, limited editions, photographs, video installations, and a specially-created multimedia presentation. Even as you enter the exhibit, the spanning widescreens projecting the many pieces from around the world immediately set the tone for the rest of the experience.
A really nice feature to accompany the exhibit experience is that you can also use a free audio guide via the izi.travel platform and App. The audio guide dives deep into the origins and history behind the featured pieces. As you continue thru the exhibit, you learn further about Banksy’s mindset in terms of why he is a street artist and creates such controversial artwork. Banksy’s reasoning, like his art, leaves you wondering, does art imitate life? Or does life imitate art?
You can reach your own conclusion by visiting the BANKSY: GENIUS OR VANDAL exhibition at Fashion Show in Las Vegas. The exhibition is a limited engagement and will run through Sunday, April 5, 2020, so be sure to snag your tickets ASAP by visiting here.
