In all honesty, the longest relationship I’ve had is with my 11-year-old cockapoo, Daisy, LOL! This vibrant, loving, fluffy puppy was here before Zell, and as a matter of fact, when he and I met, I told him Daisy and I were a packaged deal. Years later, we eventually adopted our Shih Tzu, Buddy, who is definitely the polar opposite of Daisy. Daisy and Buddy are definitely getting up there in age! And as they have aged, I’ve been more conscious about the food I provide them. On the flip side, they are picky, so I attempt to find a balance between good, quality ingredients and finding something they appear to enjoy. The 28 Day Challenge
Day 1: After grabbing a bag of the Purina ONE SmartBlend Chicken & Rice Dog food from my local Walmart, I noticed right away that my pups wanted the Purina ONE, even before opening the bag! Which isn’t too much of a surprise when real chicken is the first ingredient, blended with other high-quality protein!
Day 7: Within a week, these pups were noticeably more energetic, racing around myself and Lucky. Even shy Buddy wanted to get in on the fun!
Day 14: After cleaning up Daisy and Buddy’s waste, I noticed a difference in the consistency. In all honesty, their waste didn’t seem like the usual hard rocks from their other foods. But to me, that indicated one of the noted benefits of Purina ONE: the food is highly digestible and promotes high nutrient absorption. So more nutrients stay in and less go to waste.
Day 21: By the third week, I really witnessed Buddy brighten up! With his dark and graying coat, and especially dark eyes, this is sometimes hard to see. But he looked considerably refreshed, despite getting older!
Day 28: Within 28 days, both Daisy and Buddy just seemed like happier pups and were still excited whenever I would feed them the Purina ONE food. Typically, they seem to bore from the same type of thing day in and day out, but each time I fed them, I was always met with excitement. Which of course made me feel like a good dog mom!
